About

The world of child sponsorship can be confusing. As a long time sponsor I get a lot of questions. I thought that having a place to share information with others and share companionship in sponsorship would be fun. I welcome any suggestions you might have, or to hear about your experiences— let’s learn together!

I have sponsored through most of the organizations over the years — Children International, Plan, World Vision, Compassion, ChildFund… there are others, but I’m not recalling them; its early and I haven’t had enough caffeine for this lol I’m a very involved sponsor, in it to win it, and pretty knowledgeable about some of the programs. If you have a question, lay it on me, maybe I can help. A lot of things are possible in sponsorship, more than you’d guess— and there are also many limitations and pitfalls. Over the years I’ve seen some things- battles won, battles lost. Victory and failure, love and heartbreak.

The approach to sponsorship is different with every sponsor— no two are alike. Added to this, the organizations are very different from each other, allowing varying levels of relationships to be built. Personally I want to craft real change, create something meaningful, which is why I primarily sponsor through ChildFund. They are, by far, the most adaptable and sponsor-child relationship friendly organization that I have found. Some people prefer aspects of other orgs, which is great. Over time I’ll go into more of the details on the systems each organization offers, the real deal behind the advertising.

I’ll also share the evolution of my sponsorships with you. I have a *great* group of kids that I just adore— but I keep quiet about this part of my life in my daily. Nobody (!!) wants grandma pulling out her photos of …counting… 30 kids. No one. I don’t want to be that person. But maybe, just maybe, here there can be a community of like minded people. Am I aiming too high? This is such a baby blog, I don’t even know what to hope for, and just a vague notion of what I’m doing. Guess it will evolve over time. I’ll try not to ramble too much, and probably fail. Sorry, peeps.

‼️ Word of warning— I am not a very organized person, I don’t think in a linear, time centered way, and I’m only barely learning how to build a blog- the technical side of this is hard for me. Also, my grammar sucks. I spent about 18 months after I opened this blog messing about trying to figure out how to do it “right”… that got me nowhere, so I’m just gonna do what I do, consider it an online diary so I can cope with the obvious things we are all told to fix, and try to move forward. What else can I do? I don’t want to loose more time in pursuit of being something I’m not.

🚫NO Ai is used on this blog. At all. Ever.
Not to correct the embarrassing grammar I pretend not to care about, not to “change the tone”, not to enhance photos or generate art-
Generative Ai steals from artists, turns our brains to mush, and destroys the environment. It’s hurting people, real people, in very real ways. It’s a shiny new tool that is being pushed on us by the sociopathic madmen running the world, but to what end? This is not going in a good direction. Does no one remember what Sarah Conner warned us about? Gez. How stupid can we get?
Apparently pretty damned stupid.

I don’t purchase Ai stuff, I don’t purchase from companies that use it to model their products or whatever, and I sure as hell am not going to start using it for some small personal benefit at the expense of Mamma Earth.
Alright, rant over, but know that there is no ai slop here. Gross.

PS: Sarah Connor is still hot.

PPS: Sorry for the Ai rant, the whole thing skeeves me out and pisses me off.
